Who We Are
At Prayas Ek Pehal, our journey began with a simple yet profound conviction: real social change starts when someone takes the first step (ek pehal). We are a dedicated non-profit organization committed to empowering underprivileged and rural communities across India.
Poverty is rarely isolated—a family fighting chronic hunger cannot prioritize schooling, and an unexpected medical emergency or legal struggle can push vulnerable households into generational debt. By bringing education, sustenance, livelihood, healthcare navigation, and legal support under one umbrella, Prayas Ek Pehal creates a robust safety net that enables sustainable transformation from the ground up.
"Prayas Ek Pehal is a grassroots non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty. By addressing interconnected challenges—from primary child education and rural girls' schooling to hunger relief, youth skill development, affordable healthcare guidance, and free legal aid—we empower marginalized families with the resources, dignity, and opportunities needed to build a self-reliant future."
Our Vision
"A just and equitable society where circumstance of birth does not limit potential—where every child learns, every rural girl is empowered to lead, no plate remains empty, youth have access to dignified livelihoods, and healthcare and justice are accessible to all."
What We Do
Our multi-dimensional interventions focus on providing immediate relief while equipping communities with long-term tools for self-sufficiency:
Foundational Child Education
Delivering quality primary education, learning materials, and after-school remedial support to ensure underprivileged children stay in school and build strong foundational literacy and numeracy.
Empowering Rural Girls Through Education
Bridging the gender divide in rural heartlands by overcoming cultural, financial, and logistical barriers. We provide study support, mentoring, and community awareness to keep girls enrolled and prevent early dropouts.
Hunger Relief & Food Security
Running targeted food distribution drives and nutritional support programs to ensure vulnerable daily-wage families, elderly individuals, and malnourished children receive regular, wholesome meals.
Youth Employability & Livelihood
Equipping youth from marginalized backgrounds with vocational skills, practical digital training, workplace readiness, and placement assistance to help them transition into stable, dignified employment.
Affordable Healthcare Guidance
Assisting economically weaker families in navigating complex public healthcare systems, accessing government health welfare schemes (such as Ayushman Bharat), and finding low-cost diagnostic and medical treatment avenues.
Accessible Legal Aid & Rights Awareness
Offering guidance, legal awareness, and pro-bono support to marginalized individuals so they can defend their statutory rights and seek justice without the burden of crippling expenses.
Ensuring RTE Act 2009 Reaches Every Village Hut
Under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, private unaided schools are mandated to reserve at least 25% of entry-level seats for children belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and disadvantaged groups.
RTE Admission Desk & Documentation
We help illiterate rural parents procure Aadhaar, income, caste certificates, and register online on the UP RTE portal for the centralized lottery.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Special Drives
Zero tolerance for girl-child dropouts. We provide cycles for high-school commutes, uniforms, stationery kits, and sanitary pad dispensers in rural schools.
Samagra Shiksha & NIPUN Bharat Remedial Hubs
Evening coaching centers (Shiksha Chaupal) to ensure primary students achieve grade-appropriate Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).
Personalized academic support, school enrollment counseling, and mentoring for underprivileged rural children across Ghaziabad & Western UP.
Transforming Rural Communities from Roots
In compliance with our ISO 9001:2015 accredited scope of activities, we drive multidimensional rural development across Western Uttar Pradesh.

Founder’s Note
"When we initiated Prayas Ek Pehal, we witnessed firsthand the resilience of families living on the margins—and the profound lack of timely support holding them back. A young girl dropping out because her school is too far, a bright youth unable to find work for lack of basic market skills, or a breadwinner falling into debt over a minor legal dispute or medical fee: these are not isolated misfortunes; they are systemic gaps."
"We chose the name 'Prayas Ek Pehal' because true transformation does not wait for ideal conditions—it begins with an honest, determined initiative. Our mission is not just about extending charity; it is about restoring dignity, building capability, and standing beside our communities until they can stand strong on their own."
"Every child who picks up a notebook, every girl who completes her schooling, and every family that gains food and legal security is proof that collective efforts bring real change. We invite you to join hands with us, be a part of this movement, and make this 'Pehal' resonate across every corner that needs hope."
